Research Technician, Summer Student 2018
I am a 21-year-old student from Ottawa, Ontario. Currently, I am studying biology at the University of Victoria with a focus on ecology and evolution. I am very happy to have been given the opportunity to work as a research technician at the Cedar Coast Field Station this summer before going into the final year of my degree in the Fall. Apart from school, I love spending my spare time outdoors through hiking, backpacking and mountain biking. Thus far, my experience at Cedar Coast has been extremely rewarding and enlightening. In addition to being able to do field work in the beautiful setting that is Clayoqout Sound, I have also been able to learn how an off-the-grid field station is maintained and run by all of the staff here at Cedar Coast. My time here has shown me the planning, hard work, and dedication that is required to create this awesome environment where learning and research can be done in fruitful and productive way. I expect the second half of my time at Cedar Coast to be as fun, exciting, and filled with novel learning opportunities as the first.
