Cedar Coast Field Station welcomed their first school group this fall, Coast Mountain Academy, travelling from Squamish, BC on October 17th to 19th.
The grade 11/12 class spent three days exploring and contributing to the environmental science taking place at the field station. Students engaged in monitoring projects such as, checking wildlife cameras, measuring the abundance and diversity of different biomes on Vargas Island, documenting water quality and the aquatic invertebrates present in local streams. Instructors incorporated sea kayaking into the curriculum to ensure a unique perspective of studying the environment which we are all a part of.
