CCFS Role: Operations Coordinator
What do you love about Vargas?
The nature immersion. I love that you can walk outside and that a hummingbird will zoom by your ear with an excited buzz or that you can hear the eagles cackling to each other in their loving way. Everyday I get to learn more about all the beings that also call Vargas home.
What are you most excited for about summer camps?
The games! I love the energy that comes when a group of compassionate youth get together to play in nature. I’m excited to cackle, whoop, laugh, and run down the beach while playing the traditional NuuChahNulth game of stealing sticks.
What medium do you create in?
I love to use my words to try to embody the complexity of nature. In doing so, I seek unique ways to capture the joy of being. I try to paint a picture with my words so you can almost see/ feel/ touch/ smell/ taste what I can at that moment. But when words don’t cut it I will pick up my watercolor paints and give life to the fine details with splashes of color.
In your opinion, what is empowering about CCFS?
CCFS is a safe space to be inquisitive, ask questions, bond with friends, and expand your limits. We are always learning at the field station. Adults learn from youth, youth learn from adults, we all learn from nature, and everyone learns from themselves. As a space that celebrates uniqueness and collaboration to me, CCFS at its core is empowering. I believe that when a space encourages everyone to be their own individual that this empowers all rise to be their best self.
